Resident in Counseling
Elizabeth Perry accepts each client for who they are and where they are at in their journey. She believes each person is the expert of their own life, but sometimes they need assistance overcoming life’s challenges. She uses a person-centered, collaborative approach with each client to encourage a safe and accepting environment. She also works with clients to identify treatment goals and the steps to achieve them.
A Resident in Counseling at Healthy Minds Therapy, Elizabeth is working toward her LPC license at the Alexandria, VA location. She offers in-person and telehealth sessions, using CBT, solution-focused, and mindfulness and motivational interviewing techniques. She has a background in working with adults, teens and their families participating in PHP (Partial Hospitalization) and IOP (Intensive Outpatient) programs specializing in mood and anxiety disorders. She also has experience counseling individuals and couples in the LGBTQ community.
Elizabeth holds a M.Ed Degree in Counseling Education from the University of New Orleans, and a B.A. in Communications from Monmouth University, NJ. She spent the first half of her career as a news features writer. She also worked as a contact tracer with Fairfax County, interviewing those infected with Covid-19 at the height of the epidemic. These experiences spurred her on to get her Resident in Counseling License.
