Resident in Counseling
Hi, my name is Carla, and I have had the honor of working with diverse clients who seek counseling for a variety of reasons. One of the common factors I have identified while working alongside clients is a desire to live a more balanced and fulfilling life. I am no stranger to the highs and lows of life, and I continue to seek out knowledge on how to harness these challenges and use them for continued and unlimited growth for both myself and those I am called to work with.
I will work collaboratively with you to identify your unique vision for achieving mental well-being in core life areas including personal development, self-esteem, life goals, and fostering meaningful relationships. We will work to uncover how your relational history, life experiences, personal qualities and psychological factors impact your current functioning and develop a plan to move you closer to achieving goals that matter to you.
I use an integrative approach including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I have worked with a variety of presenting concerns, and I feel especially called to work with clients experiencing anxiety related to social engagement, general worry, performance anxiety, and issues around perfectionism.
In addition to helping individual clients, I enjoy working with couples to help them navigate life transitions, trust issues, and communication challenges, among many other relational topics. Couples and pre-marital counseling can be beneficial in helping each partner to learn problem-resolution strategies and communication skills to create a shared vision for your relationship.
I know that taking the first step toward creating change can feel overwhelming. The process of feeling better begins with one step and I would love to work with you along the journey.
