Petey Horton, Graduate Level Intern

Graduate Level Intern

Pronouns: She/Her

Petey Horton is a sex educator and therapy intern who makes the so-called “taboo” feel easy to talk about. Prioritizing culturally competent, inclusive, and totally judgment-free care, she creates safe spaces where people can be themselves without apology. Petey earned her bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and Medical Bioethics from Wake Forest University in 2022. She completed her associate’s degree in Biology while still in high school and is now back at Wake Forest pursuing her master’s degree.

She blends science, creativity, and her ADHD-fueled curiosity into everything she does. A certified NREMT, advanced open water SCUBA diver, and licensed ER tech, Petey loves collecting new skills just for the fun of it. She enjoys living abroad, with Madrid, Spain, being her home away from home. A laughter enthusiast, Petey brings warmth, humor, and a down-to-earth vibe to every session. Whether she’s guiding a client through a tough conversation or creating art in her studio, her goal is always the same: to make people feel safe, valued, and free to be exactly who they are.

Petey is a Graduate Level Intern and is working towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. She works under the supervision of Dr. Michael Deitz, LPC, and Director of Graduate Fieldwork. In the event that clients have any questions or concerns about Petey’s work, her supervisor can be contacted at drdeitz@healthyminds-therapy.com or by phone at (540) 845-6940.
