Clara Ruthinoski

Supervisee in Clinical Social Work

Clara is a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work and will be working in the Alexandria office and providing telehealth services. Clara earned a B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice from The George Washington University and a Master of Social Work from Fordham University. Throughout her career, Clara has worked with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, older adults, individuals with disabilities, and families, in settings such as schools, hospitals, and inpatient behavioral health units.

Clara takes a client-centered approach to therapy, focusing on building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust and collaboration. She believes in using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness Techniques to address the unique challenges clients face, helping them work through difficult emotions, behaviors, and life transitions. Clara feels strongly about working creatively and compassionately with clients to ensure that they feel comfortable and safe throughout the therapeutic process.

Therapy is a process that requires courage, effort, and vulnerability, and Clara is committed to creating a supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Clara strives to meet her clients where they are, offering support and guidance while empowering them to take an active role in their own growth.

As a Supervisee, Clara is also committed to serving clients with competence and integrity and is working towards licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia under the supervision of Shelton Poulter, Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
