Selena Nguyen, Resident in Counseling

Resident in Counseling

Are we the authors of your own stories? Are we the experts in our own lives? Are we living a life of impact or a life of mere existence? Hi, my name is Selena. I am a VA Board-certified Resident in Counseling with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My goals are to facilitate healing, encourage self-empowerment, and challenge others to be the best version of themselves.

My journey as a mental health professional has been enriched by a diverse range of experiences. As a first-generation Asian American immigrant and a service member in the Armed Forces, I have had the privilege of working with a wide variety of individuals. Over the past four years, I have dedicated my time to working and volunteering in numerous mental health institutions and non-profit organizations, honing my skills and broadening my understanding of the field.

Even though I specialize in a variety of psychotherapy approaches, I don’t believe that mental health therapy is a ‘one size fits all.’ My job is to find the most appropriate interventions and methods that best fit you. I only ask that you help me understand your experience and allow me to work with you to achieve our therapeutic goals.

As a Resident in Counseling, Selena is involved in Virginia’s state licensure process becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).  She works under the supervision of Christine Heyn, LPC, at Healthy Minds Therapy.  For any questions or concerns related to Selena’s work, Christine can be reached at  christyheyn@healthyminds-therapy.com  or by phone at (540) 845-6940.
