Graduate Level Intern
Courtney Q. Morris is a Filipina American Graduate Level Intern currently completing her M.S.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Old Dominion University. She also holds an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from American University. With a background in adult education and cross-cultural communication, she brings a compassionate, culturally responsive approach to counseling.
Courtney’s clinical interests include working with adults experiencing anxiety, grief, trauma, identity concerns, life transitions, and neurodivergence. She is especially interested in supporting clients navigating disenfranchised grief, bicultural stress, and the pain of feeling behind or disconnected from expected life milestones.
Courtney’s approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), culturally adapted CBT (CA-CBT), and narrative-based interventions, while also incorporating DBT skills, relational-cultural theory, and motivational interviewing to support each client’s unique needs and goals. Outside of counseling, Courtney enjoys spending time with her husband and French bulldog, singing, and working out.
Courtney is a Graduate Level Intern and is working toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. She works under the supervision of Dr. Michael Deitz, LPC, and Director of Graduate Fieldwork. In the event that clients have any questions or concerns about Courtney’s work, her supervisor can be contacted at drdeitz@healthyminds-therapy.com or by phone at (540) 845-6940.
