Resident in Counseling
Megan is currently a Resident in Counseling at Healthy Minds Therapy. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from William & Mary and her Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience from the University of Richmond.
Megan has experience working in both college counseling and private practice settings with children, teens, and adults from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. She is especially passionate about supporting teens and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and self-esteem concerns.
She primarily uses a person-centered approach and incorporates techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and play therapy depending on each client’s needs and developmental level. Through her graduate experience, Megan also has additional training in trauma-informed interventions and counseling military personnel and their families.
Megan believes therapy works best when clients feel safe, understood, and supported. Her approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs and goals. She strives to create a space where clients can show up authentically, explore challenges without judgment, and build confidence in themselves and their ability to cope with life’s difficulties.
Megan will be available for telehealth and in-person counseling at the Alexandria office!
As a Resident in Counseling, Megan is involved in Virginia’s state licensure process to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She works under the supervision of Grace Kim, LPC, at Healthy Minds Therapy. For any questions or concerns related to Megan’s work, Grace can be reached at gracek@healthyminds-therapy.
