Resident in Counseling
“I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship.” ~ Louisa May Alcott.
Chelsea feels it is important in the counseling relationship to travel through the storms and challenges with her client’s side by side as travelers in their journey together. Chelsea believes fully in human potential and allows each person to have an autonomous role in therapy.
Chelsea is here to offer support to each person throughout their therapeutic journey while also letting them create their own direction for which therapy will proceed. Chelsea is currently a Resident in Counseling at Healthy Minds Therapy, actively pursuing her license (LPC). She provides in-person therapy services in our Fredericksburg location as well as via telehealth. Chelsea focuses on a client-centered approach while also utilizing treatment techniques including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Chelsea feels it is important to empower her clients along their journey and feels it is vital to the counseling relationship. Chelsea graduated with her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina in Psychology. Before pursuing her degrees, Chelsea spent six years in the military and values the importance of helping military members and their families. Chelsea has had first-hand experience with the effects that trauma has on military members and their families through her own time in the service. Chelsea spent her internship working in a neuropsychiatric center in which she worked with ages ranging from young children to the elderly and is open to working with any population.
As a Resident in Counseling, Chelsea is involved in Virginia’s state licensure process becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
