Licensed Professional Counselor

It takes a lot of courage to be vulnerable in the face of all the issues life throws our way. These hardships can force us to neglect our emotions, resulting in depression, anxiety, anger, and more. Therapy brings healing and provides an outlet for you to express your feelings, work out problems in a healthy way, and learn methods and tools to become autonomous over your life. No matter what season of life you are in, together we can work through your issues and achieve the goals you want.

Here is a little bit about me and my background. I was born in South Korea and immigrated to the United States when I was four years old. I have lived in the Northern and Central Virginia area my whole life and have been in the mental healthcare field since 2018. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Qualified Mental Health Professional for Children in the state of Virginia, and I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

I recognize the barriers and limitations that various minority cultures often face when dealing with mental health issues. I am passionate about assisting these minority and multicultural populations to confront these challenges and experience breakthroughs and acceptance. I am comfortable working with varying levels of presenting issues—acculturation issues, life transitions, minority issues, peer relationships, racial identity, anger management, depression, and anxiety are a few of the challenges I have assisted with as a practicing therapist.

I am an eclectic therapist that pulls from a variety of treatment methods and theoretical orientations to best support you and your specific needs. Multicultural, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, and existential techniques are some that will be utilized during our work together. I take a relaxed, at-ease approach to therapy and believe building rapport in the therapeutic space is an essential building block to an enriching therapeutic experience.

I offer virtual, telehealth sessions to adolescents and adults residing in the state of Virginia and accept most major insurances. I look forward to meeting you soon!
