Resident in Counseling
Kristen Ninosky (she/her) is a Resident in Counseling at Healthy Minds Therapy, PLLC. She recently graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She also graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. She decided to pursue counseling to create positive changes in the lives of others. Kristen is an active member of Counselors for Social Justice and the Chi Sigma Iota Honors Society.
Kristen utilizes a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to provide a safe space for all clients to feel comfortable while navigating the therapeutic process. She uses a variety of evidence-based counseling interventions in sessions, pulling from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Adlerian Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). She enjoys using creative therapeutic interventions as well, such as art, music, writing, and play.
Kristen has experience with and a passion for working with members of the LGBTQ+ community. She is aware of the stigma and challenges that individuals of the LGBTQ+ community face, and strives to help them build resiliency and self-compassion. Kristen is also passionate about working with children and adolescents. She specifically has experience working with queer and trans youth (10-16 years old), children with intellectual disabilities, and adolescents experiencing anxiety and depression. Kristen strives to help clients achieve their goals and grow throughout the counseling process.
She believes that counseling relationships thrive on trust, collaboration, and empathy. Kristen hopes that her clients will create the lives they want to live by exploring their strengths and accomplishing their goals.
Kristen is a Resident in Counseling and is working towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. She works under the supervision of Reland Finch, LPC.
