Resident in Counseling
Olivia Sandoval is a Resident in Counseling and an approved Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy who provides in-person and telehealth counseling services to children (8+), teens, and adults, supporting individuals and couples as they navigate concerns such as relational issues, life’s challenges, and working through difficult past experiences. She is a graduate of the Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Relationship, Marriage, and Family Therapy programs at William & Mary and received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Independent Studies from James Madison University. She values creating a therapeutic space that feels collaborative and affirming, where clients can feel understood and empowered to engage in meaningful change.
At the heart of Olivia’s work is the belief that healing starts through authentic connection and a trusting therapeutic relationship. Her approach to counseling is based on her own experiences and beliefs about how change occurs through a sense of radical self-acceptance. Olivia is trained in Gottman couples approaches and utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions, but works collaboratively with each client to develop treatment plans that reflect their individual strengths and life circumstances for establishing and striving towards their personal values and goals.
Olivia has specialized experience working with clients facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity development, and relationship strain, and is especially passionate about supporting those in the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you’re working through current challenges or recovering from difficult past experiences, she strives to meet you with compassion, curiosity, and care. Together, Olivia and her clients can uncover what matters most and work toward building a life that feels more authentic. You deserve to feel better, and you deserve to experience meaningful change.
