Heather Hayden

Resident in Counseling

Heather is a Resident in Counseling providing counseling services via telehealth and in person at the Healthy Minds Therapy Alexandria location. She is a graduate of Eastern Mennonite University with a MA in Mental Health Counseling. She received her BS in Psychology from Fairmont State University.

Heather has experience working with young adults and adults in residential and outpatient settings. Heather also has experience working with people in crisis at homeless shelters and domestic violence shelters.

She currently specializes in domestic violence & emotional abuse, self-esteem, depression/anxiety and disordered eating.

As therapy is different for everyone, Heather works from a client-centered lens and uses a strength-based approach and evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Heather’s goal is to help her clients find their inner strength, be proud of who they are and see the value they bring to the world. She wants therapy to be a space where her clients can express their feelings and thoughts freely.

Heather is a Resident in Counseling and is working towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. She works under the supervision of Reland Finch, LPC. In the event that clients have any questions or concerns about Heather’s work, her supervisor can be contacted at rfinch@healthyminds-therapy.com or by phone at (540) 845-6940.
